RailSpeed ™ MODEL RAILROAD CALCULATOR PROGRAM

RAILSPEED Windows software calculates MPH/KPH speed of model trains using any scale ratio. The user enters a measuring distance in Feet or Meters between any two points on his layout, He then clocks the time in seconds between these two points with either the built-in timer or by using a stopwatch. The result is the train speed in either MPH or KPH. The program also has NMRA (National Model Railroad Association) tables to calculate the proper weight for model railroad cars. Railspeed is a Windows 32 bit "Console" program (text based), with internal programming calls to GUI graphics for text input and messaging screens. The program can be run with or without a mouse. The program incorporates the NMRA RP-20.1 tables for determining the optimal weight of model railroad cars for different scales. Thank you for visiting our website, H and P Software.com. RailSpeed ™ is a relatively new program on the market . We have DOS-based business programs available also.

Harold has been a published software author for over 20 years. His earlier work was with DOS-based software. One of his best selling DOS-based applications used in the USA by banks, lawyers, real estate companies and many others, was Amortization Table ™. This program is still available in CD-form at $9.95 ea. USD. Even though it is a DOS-based program, it should run fine with most Windows operating systems today. The problem with the DOS-based programs is that they cannot be printed with Windows-Only printers or USB printers. They require character-based printers. There are several programs available now which convert DOS's LPT1 output to Windows printing. Two programs that I purchased for myself and have tried are DOS2USB and DOSprn. These programs work very well and remain in the background on your computer except when changing printing parameters. They are available as downloads and are very reasonably priced. I started my Windows ™ programming with the Power Basic ™ 32 bit Windows Console Compiler a few years ago. My first work using the Windows compiler was a Freeware program called RF Safety ™ which was written for Radio Amateurs (Hams) like myself, or Broadcast Radio Engineers. It calculates the Maximum Permissible Exposure in MW/CM² of radio frequencies as commanded by FCC OET Bulletin 65. It can be downloaded at no charge from a website called eham.net. A link is provided below for the RF Safety download. Recently, I got interested in model railroading and wrote the RailSpeed ™ program. I designed and built a fully automated (flat as possible) layout that basically runs itself. It was designed using mostly relay logic. I do use quite a few solid state modules such as time delay relays. I then decided I needed something to keep one train from rear-ending the other one should one not start moving for some reason. I bought a SPLat brand PLC, (Programmable Logic Controller) from SPLat CONTROLS based in Australia (see link below). I wrote the PLC software myself and it works wonderfully.
